Abstract

The present article aims to investigate the existence of an inflationary integration process in the cross-border region of Sonora and Arizona during the period from 2019 to 2023. To achieve this, the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) in Mexico and the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the United States are used as indicators to measure inflation in both regions.
The study is based on the collection of price information for a basket of goods and services that represent household consumption in each country. Changes in prices over time are analyzed and compared between the two regions.
The results reveal the existence of an inflationary phenomenon in both regions, with an apparent convergence or inflationary integration in this cross-border region, resulting in negative impacts on currency purchasing power and income distribution inequality.
