Mexico-United States integration, between the ups and downs of recession and recovery

This article analyzes the vicissitudes of the economic relationship between Mexico and the United States based on the temporary impacts of the recession that had as its background the emergency of covid-19 in 2020, using the definition of recession as instruments of analysis. from the office of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER, United States Bureau of Economic Research). The contagion of a recession between partners and the consequences of covid-19 stand out. Fiscal policy is “reinvented” to overcome the recession, without failing to recognize other problems that need to be resolved. As results and conclusions, it is discussed and proposed to search for structural alternatives to try to break with the anathema of cyclical synchrony between Mexico and the United States, where the former has been a relative loser. To promote the above, it is proposed to achieve a better interweaving between the market and the State; promote the incorporation of society as an agent of transformation and seek ways to ensure that the terms of integration are symmetrical and covered by cooperation policies.
